“Gordon Stettinius, a photographer of ‘average appearance’ has undergone an 8 year collaboration with a photographic studio in his home town of Richmond, Virginia. He has had his photo taken by Terry Brown , the studio’s chief photographer, and in each of the near on 50 photographs he takes on a different appearance. A well trodden path you may think, but the reason it took so long is that he had to wait to grow back his hair , beard, whatever to take on the next pose. These accumulated poses and hairstyles are all very small town America and we also get a good tour of anything from the permanent wave through to a transvestite. In short a directory of bad taste, in the best possible sense.
