Hideyuki Ishibashi reconstructs images from fragments of old photographs and postcards he finds in flea markets in France. The resulting images made from carefully selected photographic fragments present disquiet, imaginary worlds devoid of information. Présage also includes 23 collages of the source images. Part collage, part conceptual sketch, fully phantasmagorical, the photobook with its many foldout pages offers a wealth of visual stimulation and hidden meaning.
A beautiful and elegant production. Recommended.
